The day after….
It’s done! After an early afternoon studio session at The Dope Spot, I was able to fart out my RPM 2025 submission: Fentanyl Chic! I finished all of the vocals for those leased beats around 1pm. Then, it was time to go over the music I had already recorded, make them passable sounding, decide on the tracklist, find some damn art, etc. I sent in my submission a few minutes before midnight. RPM’s official deadline is March 2nd or something, but I couldn’t give myself that much grace. It’s about finishing a project in February and February ended…*checks time*…over 15 hours ago.
Surprisingly, Prophylactic Moves didn’t make the cut. I still really like the idea and the lyrics came to me easily, but the track just felt dead while I was recording it. I know it’ll make for a good song at some point. Hell, maybe I’ll figure it out this week. Now that I have allll of this free time. But no haha I’m digging through some old demos for the next release. I actually found an old session named “beautifultrees” when I was hunting for ideas and it sounded great. Single guitar, singer/songwriter belting it out sorta vibes. In the meantime, I’m taking at least this weekend to veg out. I spent about 4 hours playing videos games today haha I was so relaxed I forgot to start letting people know the music is done!
In all, I’d say this year’s project was the most fun I’ve had in the past 4 years or so of RPM. My goal of doing more “making of” content actually led me to have more writing sessions, so it helped more than I expected. I’m very proud of “Lifestyles Sluts & Fashion Whores” for being the latest example of my writing style: try to make sense out of something that doesn’t quite make sense. My recent SOAD binge was well timed because it gave me an instant backdrop for title. If there’s any track you check out, I’d recommend that one.
Anyways, here’s to the rest of the weekend. Peace.
